Kwara TESCOM Moves Recruitment to CBT Stage, Invites Over 9,000 Applicants

The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has announced the next phase of its teachers’ recruitment process. On Monday, February 17, 2025, TESCOM will send text messages to 9,459 applicants who have successfully completed their online applications.

Recall that Kwara Tescom recruitment portal had just been opened for bringing in new teachers into the commission.

Today, TESCOM Chairman, Mallam Bello Taoheed, explained that the shortlisted candidates met key requirements, including holding relevant degrees such as B.Ed., B.Sc. Ed., or B.A. Ed., or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject with educational qualifications. They also satisfied the age criteria set for the recruitment.

Mallam Bello disclosed that 26,349 individuals initially began the application process. However, the system screened out those without the required qualifications or who exceeded the age limit. This left 11,617 applicants who completed their applications. From this pool, 9,459 were shortlisted for the Computer-Based Test (CBT), based on various criteria.

Among the shortlisted candidates, 87.95% (8,319) are from Kwara State, while 12.05% (1,140) are non-indigenes. Additionally, 4,332 candidates (45.80%) applied to teach STEM subjects. The gender distribution shows that 4,750 candidates (50.22%) are female, while 4,709 (49.78%) are male.

The list also includes 40 persons living with disabilities (PLWD), 31 of whom are Kwarans. Special arrangements will be made at the CBT centres to ensure they are accommodated.

The CBT exams will take place on Saturday, February 22, at designated centres, including Thomas Adewunmi University in Oko, Kwara State College of Health Technology in Offa, and Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin. Other venues are the University of Ilorin, Ilorin West LGA Library/CBT Centre in Agbo-Oba, Lafiagi Emirate Information and Technology Hub in Lafiagi, and Tsoede CBT Centre along Patigi-Ilorin Road in Patigi.

Applicants are required to log in to the portal to select the CBT centre closest to them. Once assigned, they must print their examination slips and bring them to the venue.

The exams will begin at 8:30 a.m., and candidates are advised to arrive at least an hour early. TESCOM has also stressed that applicants should behave appropriately before, during, and after the test, as their conduct will be part of the overall assessment for the public sector job.
